The story of my ancestors is predominantly based in just two English counties, Leicestershire and Sussex.
In fact, it is predominantly based in small areas of these counties. My Father’s (Rushin) family are traceable for many generations following the shoe trade in the north Leicestershire village of Anstey and my Mother’s (Hobden) family are traceable for many generations on farms in a small area of East Sussex.
It was only because of my Father’s posting to Sussex whilst he was in the Royal Air Force that he had the chance to meet my Mother. They were the first in many generations of my lineage to move outside of their home areas.
